Hi I'm a ubuntu 8.10 user and I'm really into rpg games, are there any rpg games which are good and fun to play? Something like runescape or something, just not online

what about planeshift....I tried it a while back and gave up on it, but I just recently installed it again, but havnt had a chance to play...it might be worth looking at....open source MMORPG.
Ill second nwn 1 plus expansions.
Diablo 1 and 2 run well under wine.
dont forget emulators as well.

Im playing Final fantasy VIII in epsx now. OMG 6 hours straight and im still on the first disc >.<

I haven't been able to get planeshift to work well in Ubuntu... I used to play it when I would boot into XP, but every now and then it would lag, or take a while to render. Worst part was that I would be walking on the edge of an area, and then the lagging would start. then id see myself falling... i ended up in the underworld quite a few times due to falling... The issue with Planeshift in Ubuntu (at least for me) was that I couldn't get it to shrink to fit my screen. I have a widescreen laptop, and when I would try to resize the planeshift screen, I would get a section that would be below the lower panel.. so i uninstalled it. if its fixed in the newer version, can someone pm me? I wouldn't mind reinstalling it, if I will be able to see the whole screen!

how well does Diablo 2 work? Can you pm me a screenshot/link to screenshot or 2 to see how it looks under wine? Does it go fullscreen? I haven't messed with Wine too much yet, but I want to, as I'm ready to ditch my XP partition, and go full ubuntu.

Some of these are still in development and not at all ready or even playable, however you might want to bookmark them and keep tabs on their development so when they are ready you can play them.

A mere $20 will buy you Neverwinter Nights Diamond, which has a Linux client available at BioWare's website. The way I got it to run (minus movies :mad:) was to follow exactly the instructions in the top sticky in the Linux section of the forums.
NWN is THE most game in a box you can get, with thousands of free modules available, and hundreds of GOOD ones. \\:D/
