New Ubuntu Media Center - Need Best Music player for over 26,000 songs...

I'm using Winamp in windows and love how easy it is to search and add music to a playlist. What should I use in 8.10? i run x64 on this box...

If you want this to be an all out media player I would suggest XBMC: http://xbmc.org/

If you just need something that has a simple desktop and music player, go with Banshee, Amarok, or Songbird as they are pretty decent. Most of these can even autoupdate your music as you add it to your system.

Honestly if Windows suits you then use it. But if it gives you problems then check out Songbird, Amarok, VLC, or WinAmp via Wine.

amarok is my player of choice. Its kde though, so if you want to use a gnome program, then you might want to check out rhythmbox or mozilla's songbird.

I found the latest songbird a bit laggy, they still have some more work to do, however in the future i think it will be my player of choice. For now Amarok is great, but I choose to use Exaile which is similar for gnome.

Audacious offers Winamp 2* functionality

I would use Amarok with mysql. (sql lite gets laggy with an obnoxious amount of music in your collection.)

Quod Libet is my favorite. It's pretty fast and functional without being ugly. I think there's a playlist in there, but I prefer using *album view* - it groups all your albums by artist in the left column, sorted by artist name. Just like the usual record collection. There's a search field to jump to artist/record. Try it out!

I used iTunes in my Windows and I liked it. In Linux you can try Amarok 1 and Songbird (Amarok 2 is a peice of ..., I don't like it)
