I'm thinking of buying a new computer box, obviously I'll want to hand build it, and obviously I'll want to put Linux on it. But I also want to run some games in Windows, so does anyone feel like speccing me out a good "bang for buck" (around £300-£400) system that'll be fairly compatible with ubuntu? I've already got a good (700W) PSU, and a case, and a 9600GT (Though I wouldn't mind replacing that, if people thought it'd be worthwhile)
My current rig is an Athlon 3000 (socket 939), 2 gig of fairly cheap ram, some harddrives and the aforementioned 9600GT, I am considering just buying a faster processor and plugging it in for the moment, and skipping the full scale upgrade.
Any help would be appreciated
