Is there an software for linux, which is designed to do VJ stuff? Visualizing music, automatic video cutting, subtitle mixing in video, etc

Yes, there is. I was just reading about it a few days ago. I just can't remember what it is called vjplay or something like that.

Here's a couple I was able to dig up. I've never used any (other than PD - but that was for audio rather than visuals), so I can't offer much more info than what's on their webpages.

FLxER: http://www.flxer.net/ (runs in flash) Gephex: http://www.gephex.org/ Pure Data: http://puredata.info/ (also take a look at: http://artefacte.org/pd/ ) EffecTV: http://effectv.sourceforge.net/ FreeJ: http://freej.dyne.org/ LiVES: http://lives.sourceforge.net/ DelVJ: http://www.delcorp.org/delvj/index.php/Portada (it's in spanish but google does translate it into understandable though broken english) MøB: http://mob.bek.no VeeJay: http://www.veejayhq.net/ BitchVJ: http://www.piksel.no/pwiki/BitchVj

Hopefully that gets you started.

Have a look at processing (processing.org).. and fluxus (http://www.pawfal.org/fluxus/). I also think that gstreamer (http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/) and ffmpeg are really useful things to know about.

Maybe check out arduino too if you want to develop electronic gadgets to control yr visuals?
