Hi everyone this is my first time on the forums so tell me if I do anything wrong :) anyway I'm trying to run Supertux. I installed the stabe version but when I try to start it (via Command Line) it comes up with this message.

Warning: No joysticks are available.

Error: Can't load /usr/share/games/supertux/images/status/letters-black.png

Help?

i'm new too, http://ubuntuforums.org/images/smilies/smiley-faces-80.gif

how did you install? in my experienced its allways best to keep it simple. Try installing through add/remove under applications if this isnt the way you all ready did it(even if you did it that way maybe reinstalling will work), but first make sure you remove the first install.

are you using joysticks with supertux? last time i played, it was all on the keyboard without a fuss.

No I don't have a joy stick. I tried installing it several different ways, from Synaptic, Add/Remove and Terminal. Still I'll try re-installing it.

i'm going to try installing it to see if i have the problem too

i just installed and had no problems. it must be a hardware problem, you should post the hardware your using, in particular anything that might be causing the problem. it also could be missing packages or something but i dont know enough bout that stuff, to help.

Is there a file called letters-black.png in /usr/share/games/supertux/images/status/

#7

Yes there is. Supertux just seems to be having some trouble seeing it. It might be something to do with the SDL or something as Battle for Wesnoth has a similar problem when I start it.
