ps2 optical mouse not working with live cd

why is my mouse not working it is a ps2 optical mouse and i was using the live cd. the mouse works while using windows

I also have a ps/2 optical mouse which isn't working (both hd install and live cd), I've searched a bit and tried much different xorg.conf configurations, but I have not found a solution. I did saw more topics on this forum with people who have very similar problems: When the computer is booting up the optical light works, but the first time I try to move the mouse the light goes out, then the mouse buttons do work, but I can't move the mouse.

i now tried using a ball mouse and it works fine
