I am having a problem with both Firefox and Opera browsers.

I also am using 'CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor 2.24.1.

Something happens in these browsers that bring my CPU up to 100% at 2ghz for a long enough time to cause my processor to overheat and shut down.

If I adjust my CPU freq down to 1ghz, I can let these browsers burn at 100% for longer periods.

Here's the weird part >>> While these browsers are using 100% of my processor, I will open a terminal >> sudo top >> and try to kill the "browser" process, but They will not even stop >> so I instantly sudo reboot to shut down which ever browser is burning up my processor.

If any other program does this, I don't know about it. It only seems to be doing this when I use Opera or Firefox.

Please help

Bye a new cooler and vent. Under no circumstances, your CPU should overheat, even if it's for hours at 100%.

Are you sure it overheats?

it should be melting your pc but your slow browsing could be a flash problem. try the comprehensive multimedia guide http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=766683
