Hi there, I've got a HP Deskjet 600, it's getting on a bit, I know. It only has the old parallel LPT connection, and my laptop only has USB, so I bought a converter, and the printer works almost bug-free in linux (and not, may I add, in windows!). It appears as a USB printer. The only snag is, the printer has to be switched on at bootup for it to work. (Otherwise, it just doesn't respond, and if I try to add a new printer it isn't detected.) It's not critical, since I can reboot, but it's a nuisance. Any help much appreciated!

James.

*edit* just found a manual for the cable, and it's a CN-103 by Sitecom and is described as a "USB to Printer Cable". No help in the manual itself though :p
