Reinstalling OS9

Hello there. I was wondering if anyone could help me? We installed Ubuntu on a friend's elderly iBook, and found out that it really wasn't suited for such an underpowered machine. Thusly, we'd quite like to reinstall Mac OS9, so that she can have a working computer again. I was just wondering if anyone knew how to do this? When we try to boot the CD from the boot-up screen at startup, it doesn't do anything.

stick in the mac os 9 cd, and boot up with 'C' held down.

did you try installing a lighter desktop like xfce? you can make ubuntu usable on a low spec machine with a little work.

I'm afraid that the owner of the iBook is pretty insistent that she get Mac OS back on her system. She's not very computer-savvy and I think it'd be for the best. Thanks for the advice, though.

The problem we seem to be having is that when we try to boot the CD is that it comes up with a screen with an icon of a floppy disc with a question mark in it, then it eventually shuts itself off. Any ideas why/what should be done would be very helpful.

thats an "i can't find anything that i can boot from" message.

is you mac os 9 cd scratched? can you read it ok on another machine?
