I managed to install steam and immediately installed Counter-Strike Source. It seemed to be going well except for some funny looking fonts and I even got into a game, although it was running at around 20 fps. Then a little while after the next round starts and I'm in the game, it quits, and I'm back the the steam window. I think it has a relation with being a player in the game but I did just try to join a server and the game quit the moment I was in the game.
If it's any signifigance I also installed Half-Life and the campaign seems to work perfectly
