The rtl8187 usb wifi cards have this known bug that was reported almost a year ago has still gone unfixed. The sad part is, there is a fix that works flawlessly, and it's to use the windows98 drivers under ndiswrapper.

My bug forces me disable all power management or risk losing data, has been open for almost three years, and was triaged just last month.

Somebody finally looked at it Just. Last. Month.

So, when you're feeling frustrated about the luck of progress on your bug, just remember the unofficial open-source software motto: "It could be worse!"

Its more up to upstream to fix rather than downsteam.
