Just wanted to express how much I'm enjoying Ubuntu.
It's been... I think, about a week now, since I installed Ubuntu. I used Wubi to do so, as I'm still very much a 'fraidy cat where it comes to partitioning my drive and messing about with the internals. Experienced no issues whatsoever in the installation.
I settled in very quickly; the Ubuntu system is very comfortable to work with. I had some initial issues involving my Nvidia and Sound, but that was nothing turning off my machine and getting some sleep couldn't solve (sound was working by morning; guess it just needed the updates sorted, and Nvidia just required new drivers).
I was, I admit, initially scared of the terminal, but after some reading and getting used to it, I'm fairly happy to use the terminal and command lines to get the computer doing things.
Although I've had a couple of minor minor issues (I segfaulted a couple of times last night while running Second Life. I'm suspecting Pulse Audio, going by research of the forums after it happened, and sillywalking through my logs), it was nothing that couldn't be fixed, and I'm lucky enough that I have friends who were able to give pointers on dealing with the aftermath. I've also since removed Pulse Audio. We'll see how it goes. : )
All in all, I'm very happy. Couple of things I *may* have to keep using Windows for (Dreamweaver, for example... I'm studying multimedia this year, and it's the designer we're using in class... though I'm much much happier just coding by hand. But it does have its uses)... But otherwise, I'm enjoying working with Ubuntu, and will happily continue to do so.
Great work to all who make Ubuntu what it is.
: )
