I am a first time Ubuntu user. I have a had my e510 for a couple years. I purchased it online and had a pciExpress ATI card installed on it from factory.
The install of Ubuntu went fine from the CD. Once I boot the wallpaper is black with a white square in the center of the screen and then it seems everything freezes except my mouse pointer. It almost acks like it is over heating. I tried a few things but nothing worked.
I decided to pull the pciExpress card and just use the onboard graphic card. On my first boot up everthing was fine and still is, but as soon as I change to the pciExpress card it will repeat what I mentioned above.
Any ideas on what I can try?
