Do I need to re-install WoW?

I recently wiped my hard drive of the dreadful copy of vista I received with this laptop, along with all the other crap programs that came with it. I've now installed Ubuntu 8.10, and have begun to understand the OS in a general sense. The only problem I have ran into so far is trying to install/play World of Warcraft. I started by downloading the newest version of Wine. I then opened the download client off of WoW's website through wine, and began the download. Everything worked fine until I actually attempted to PLAY the game, lol. When I try to start the game, the beginning movie works fine, but if I try to skip the movie or just wait for it to end, it crashes whenever it gets to the login screen. Even though the graphics crash, and the notifications pop up, I still hear the login music in the background. My first thought was, "Oh, well maybe I should just try it with the crossover trial". So after downloading crossover, I attempted the install, which then failed after installing the fonts. The error message was, "Unable to locate installer file. Try going back, selecting 'Other*.exe file' and browsing to the installer by hand. So, my main question is, can I get crossover to work with the WoW installation from their site, or is the problem within my WoW files?

Try this for me. Open up a terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal) and type this:

glxgears

Do you see spinning gears or do you see an error? Either way, copy and paste what it says (you can close the gears after running them for like 15 seconds).
