I have 8.10 64 installed and when I go to system>admin>hardware drivers it lists "Nvidia accelerated graphics driver (Version 177) [Recommended]" When I select activate and reboot, I get the splash loading screen...but then dump to display prompt for the boot and sits on checking batter status [ok]. I can't get past that. If I hit alt-ctrl-del it will shutdown ubuntu for restart and that is when a console login appears right before it restarts.

So, I am confused on how to get my two 9600 gt to work with 8.10.

Well I'm confused you get past grub, then it hangs? Have you tried safe mode & fix X? If you can get to a log in prompt, then you can put up a fight. At that point there are some other threads dealing with SLI, in fact really recent ones.

Well I had to reinstall ubuntu myself and then follow the suggestion in the fourth to last post in the following link. So far its working for me. I'm doing some updates to the system and will see if its still working. I will further post if it is still working or not. I have nvidia 8800 GT myself in sli mode.

Well the solution in the link above seems to have worked for me. I would suggest trying it and see if it works for you.
