Securing usernames and passwords

I'm a recent full-time convert from Windows where I had a program called passkeeper which I used to store username and password combinations (as well as misc information) for things like banks etc

I was wondering if people could recommend an equivalent secure drop box for things like this?

The only one I've found so far is http://stakface.com/trace/passkeeper.php

Anybody recommend anything else?

I'm pretty happy with revelation. It's in the repos.

Hmm. I must check revelation out, I currently use a password protected OpenOffice.org spreadsheet.

Try KeePassX (it's in the repositories).

I use an encrypted text file.

There is an application, http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/keepass_portable

keepass encrypts your passwords and optionally uses both a key and password.

It runs on Wine without any problem, so it is portable across OS on a USB drive.

KeePassX has an advantage over Revelation: it's cross-platform (Linux, Mac, and Windows). Also, KeePass (on which KeePassX was based) has a portable version for your USB stick.

I use PassWordSafe. You can find it in the repositories. This program is also available for WIndows and Maemo. Excellent user interface, and you can have the Windows version installed on a USB drive, so you have with you your passwords on the go (using any public windows based PC).

I'm a big fan of KeePassX with its cross-platform support and I especially love the secure password generator built into it. It 'seems' better than most others I've tried.
