[SOLVED] Realtek 8185L Drivers Still Kaput in 8.10?

Somewhere I thought I saw somebody say that Intrepid fixed the vexing problems Realtek 8185L chipset wireless cards (including my Trendnet card) were having on AMD-64 platforms under Hardy (and previous builds). I thought I saw something saying Intrepid now sees these cards. That's the only reason I installed Intrepid -- Hardy was otherwise working fine for me.

Well I've been fooling around for a while and while my card shows up on lspci, I can't seem to get it to do anything. I know there were lots of issues with 32 vs. 64-bit drivers, ndiswrapper, etc. I've gotten quite confused about how to proceed, and most of the generic stuff (like the wireless Wiki) is pretty old and doesn't specifically address the 64-bit problem.

My question: Does anybody actually have this chipset working on an AMD-64 platform, and if so, can you give me any hints on how I might achieve that same blissful state?

I'm command-line ignorant, so please provide verbatim commands if possible.

Wouldn't you know, after posting this I noticed the wireless icon in the top bar, clicked on my network, and after some tweaking peculiar to my setup, am on the wireless net using the Trendnet/Realtek card. So, to quote Emily LaTella, "Never mind!"
