Hello. Has anyone got their ALPS touchpad working (e.g. scrollwheel, etc) on a Toshiba Satellite 2410? I have tried all these incantations described in various threads, to no avail.

((It seems there are many thousands of users looking for help on touchpads... if you are an Ubuntu administrator or just clever and understand the big picture... wouldn't it be great to have a comprehensive www page with directions / flow-chart / several levels of explanation about what is going on with this pervasive bug? I find the scattered advice overwhelming. Better, if it is a "bug", is it likely that there will shortly be a magic update that fixes it? I don't understand these things. ))

I like how the touchpad has worked under Mandriva. Is there a clever way to just copy some (binary) files (copying xorg.conf does NOT work) from Mandriva 2005LE to Ubuntu to make things work?

Thanks!

I know this doesn't help you, but I'd appreciate if you would take the time to add your computer here:

Okay, I added mention of it to the Ubuntu laptop wiki page. I also keep a log of all my attempts with different distros on the web. (e.g. found with "cpbl satellite 2410")
