Hi All,

I'm getting too old for all this! Gone are the days of me being able to keep up with the latest technology, but never mind I'll ask you lot instead...

I've just ordered myself some new stuff to build a MythTV box. Whilst looking at processors I found that these new fangled AMD Sempron processors weren't any more expensive than the "Athlon XP"s that I'm used to, so I ordered one of those, and a MB to go with it.

I just asumed that a Sempron was 64 bit and that I'd install the 64 bit Ubuntu, but now I come to read up on the subject I find that perhaps the Sempron is 64bit, perhaps it's not.

Can anyone tell me, in short words, whether or not I should install the 64bit Ubuntu on this processor:

Thanks,

Will

It's quick and easy to google for "sempron wikipedia"

Anyway, long story short, it seems the newer Semprons are 64-bit, check the wikipedia to see if yours is there.

I think it is, as it's socket 754. socket 754 mobos are normally 64 bit.
