It's a well-documented fontconfig bug that is still yet to be fixed.

Thanks for that. Couldn't find anything on launchpad. But that could just be the launchpad search.

I haven't noticed any difference with the 64 bit version. Not tried the 32 bit yet.

First one is 3.04 second one is 3.1.

I am having the same problem. It makes 3.1 unusable and I have to switch back to 3.0.

Well... default font is a disaster but with Liberation Sans its OK...

ttf-liberation is the packagename > Appearance > tab fonts..

Remember: if its a 3.1 bug file your bug against firefox-3.1 package :)
