Inserting a CD/DVD or a memory card makes nautilus quit. I believe removing the media does the same thing.

I don't know about Jaunty but I get this in Intrepid

Yes, I get a similar thing when inserting/removing a USB memory stick, but it doesn't quit, it just wipes all icons off the desktop.

Mine doesn't do either but it won't mount.

Nautilus opens after 10 minutes when a media is inserted. Sometimes it does the same when I try to open a folder.

Gina try this: insert the media then do something else for 15 minutes (like browsing in Firefox). See if it opens by itself after the time interval passed.

Yes, Im sorry that seems to be the case for me too. I can still open folders but I have to restart Nautilus to get my icons back
