Trying Virtualization - worked... but slow.

I'm giving my first steps on ubuntu and also, in virtualization.

I'm on: Ubuntu 8.10 Virtualbox 2.06 (not the opensource one :( )

I have 4GB ram, and I have give 2GB to my virtuabox.

Ok. When I do some tasks that don't require the use of the network, the thinks runs pretty fast. However, when, for example, I try to open a document, or save to my shared desktop, he just gets to slow. I've look on te xVM bottom bar, and I've notice that each time the network was running, the waiting time was to long.

Is there a workaround for this? I can't work on a production enviroment, when I eatch time I open or save an aplication it takes that long.

Any alternatives? Is remote desktop an alternative to network or is just, another thing?

Any lights will be greatly appreciated.

Ok. I've notice that, if I disable the network on the virtualmachine, I still get my shared desktop on windows to work. This is good.

Problem is, when the network are enable, the applications get endless time when we do "file open" or "file save" (and maybe other) operations.

I need the applications on the guest to access the internet. Is there a way to make them share the same internet then ubuntu, avoiding the use of virtual network cards?
