bud1960 posted in this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6365363&postcount=238 . His post was confusing, and it's understandable that Sef thought it was spam. However, I've been in e-mail contact with bud1960 (he e-mailed me after I expressed my confusion over his post) and I'm convinced that while the post was carelessly-written, it's not spam, and bud1960 shouldn't be banned.

Hi

I have a website that logs user activity. When I am using Covenant Eyes, I see the initial hit from Covenant Eyes followed by my hit. Don't know if that is helpful at all or not, but it is my 2 cents worth.

Thanks, Bud http://www.ehymns.com

Here's his clarification, sent via e-mail (the clarification is on-topic for the thread in question): > I tried to reply to the email that you sent to me from the ubuntu forum but I don't know if that is a good address to reply to. The reason that I put the post (my first, I believe) is that there were people trying to help by disclosing how Covenant Eyes responds in earlier posts and I was just saying that it appeared to me that they actually go out and validate the site bing previewed. For example, on ehymns <dot> org, which is my site, if I click on a hymn in the select menu on the mens page, it makes an initial entry in the database and shows that the hit was from CE, then it shows my hit. I guess the only explanation that I can offer for the parked domain is that I probably put .com instead of .org. I had the website up formerly (a few years ago) under the .com and sometimes I still mistakenly type it.

I will look into this and unban as necessary. Thank you for the assistance.

Thanks for looking into this. Do you plan on notifying bud1960 of his unbanning (provided you agree with my assessment) or should I plan to do so myself?

I have restored his account as well as the post in question (after modifying the link so that the correct one is included). There were honest and non-malicious mistakes made by several of us during the process. I hope that doesn't color bud1960s opinion of the forums as a whole.

Thanks. I've explained my conjecture about how the ban could have happened, and he understands that it was an honest mistake. I'll let him know he can now log in and post the clarification he tried to post earlier.
