Dear All,

I am a potential System76 Ubuntu laptop buyer. I have been running Ubuntu on various laptops for quite some years now, and find the idea of a pre-installed and pre-configured Ubuntu laptop attractive. I have one one question.

Suppose I buy a System76 computer with Ubuntu 8.10 installed and configured and want to upgrade to 9.04 when the new release comes out, will that break the system with regard to:

  1. The Ubuntu system it self;
  2. The customized System76 drivers?

Many thanks.

Best, Shige

By the time Ubuntu officially releases a new version (i.e. not alpha or beta, but the final), we have completed testing it on our machines. If anything is broken, we put the fixes in our System76 driver, which you will need to run after upgrading or doing a fresh install.

The System76 driver can be downloaded from our repositories.

Thanks, this is very helpful.
