I've changed the permissions of raw1394 to access the firewire dv camcorder.
But I can't seem to get Kino to remotely control the camera. even sudo kino won't work. using a sony dv camcorder.
it worked fine in hoary - any ideas?

it works!
My video camera has a USB for accessing photo's on the memory stick. Turned off the USB and volia - AV/C controls all work.
