.xsession-error file

Good day po! Patulong naman po mga sir!

Panu po ba aayusin yung ganitong error? Kasi yung ubuntu server installation ko, ininstallan ko po ng gnome desktop. Recently nagkaroon po ng problema sa gconf nya. Yun pong nawawalang panel pag i-click mo sya. Someone suggested that I try this command: *sudo rm -rf .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity* Naayos naman po sya dati. Tapos bumalik po uli yung sira kagabi. I tried uli na gawin yung command but this time, after I reboot the station ayaw na pong pumasok sa desktop. Ang sabi, i-check daw po yung .xsession-errors file. Kaso wala naman pong nakalagay kung anu error. As in blanko po sya. Panu po kaya to i-solve. Please, patulong po. Thanks in advance!:p

how about doing a purge then reinstall?

sudo apt-get remove --purge ubuntu-desktop

Ginawa ko po yung sinabi nyo kaso ganun pa rin yung computer ko eh. Pero this time may nakalagay na po dun sa .xsession-errors file nya: (gnome-session:1457): libgnomevfs-warning**: unable to create ~/.gnome2 directory: No space left on the device Could not create per-user gnome configuration directory '/home/jerry/.gnome2': No space left on the device. Could it mean na puno na talaga yung disk ko? BTW, thank you very much po for your reply.:p

yeah, specifically your HOME partition ( if you separated it) or the whole Ubuntu partition. this also explains why your xsession-errors file had no content before the purging.

Sir Loell, Thanks po uli sa pagreply. Ok lang po ba na mag-install ako ng isang harddisk para dun sa /home folder? Hindi po kasi pwede i-reinstall since ftp server din po namin to. Saka pwde na po ba kahit 8Gig na harddisk? Medyo cost-cutting office namin at pinapagamit yung mga luma naming equipment. Maraming Salamat po uli! Astig kayo mga sir!!:lolflag:

its tricky, creating a separate home partition from an existing system. the ideal way is to create it during first install.

Sir Loell, Thank you po sa pagreply. I did the steps outlined on the link that you posted. However, permission denied pa rin ako everytime na maglolog-in sa desktop. Anyways, ulitin ko na lang uli baka may na-missed out ako sa steps!
