it would be fine to see it.

#3

see this thread , http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1012034 , I've got it running now in 64bit jaunty .

#4

is there any idea whether this is a performance/compatibility improvement over the current 64 bit icedtea plugin/openjdk?

#5

The 64bit seems to be faster, but that may be because my ISP did some upgrades over the weekend.

I can finally access two web sites that I have had to boot into Vista to access. To bad for Vista :)

do you know which websites work with this java and not the icetea thing? i might give it a try and see

The one site I was having a problem with, it was slow loading and elements weren't placed properly is Bell.ca, and the other site which I couldn't access at all was my account with Service Canada. The Bell site now works properly, and I can access my account with Service Canada.

bell.ca does seem a little flakey to be sure, can't see any diference between java plugin installed and uninstalled though, i'm not sure thats using java. maybe a diferent problem. if theres any other sites anyone has trouble with icedtea on it would be interesting to compare the two java plugins. i use java a lot and i know theres a fair amount of merging of sun and openjdk but i dont know exactly the diference, i'm sort of curious

There have been messages in the forums on java.net that Sun plans to release java 6u12 in February. That sounds pretty promising to me for it to be included in Jaunty.
