Are there guidelines describing when it is appropriate to move a post there?

If not, can we have some? I think this can be a cause of dispute if it is unclear.

Agreed a set of guidelines do need to be set as to what type of posts need to be moved there. We can make this adjustment and post it in the guideline section of the forums..

I would propose something like this as a starting point. Of course, the word *inflammatory* is very broad and probably needs to be defined further: > While there will never be a completely unmoderated section of the Ubuntu Forums, the Backyard is a place where some more controversial material can be discussed, and the use of profanity (as long as it does not violate any of the guidelines below) is allowed. 1. It allows some users a less moderated place to discuss topics that can get quite heated.
2. It allows users who wish to avoid potentially offensive discussions a way to easily do so.

A thread may be moved from Community Chat or a support forum to the Backyard if it either by its nature seems inflammatory or by its evolution has turned inflammatory.

4. No posting of drug making or terrorist related material.
5. No racial or racist comments or activities will be allowed.
6. The Ubuntu Code of Conduct is applied here and must be followed.

It could also be made clearer to the users what is and isn't permitted outside of the backyard. From this thread, it would seem that any kind of political discussion is forbidden on the rest of the forums, but this isn't made clear at all from the forum guidelines.
