May somebody please give me a way to set-up mythtv on linux mint for a noob i don't care if its from the tar.bz2 or from the package manager as long as it works... and please do not refer me to this site http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO.html because it is to hard to follow. I have tried to install it from the package manger and when I run mythtv backend setup it tells me to select my language then says no UPnP backends found then takes me to database configuration then keeps on going through a loop

I suggest you look the ubuntu.com wiki first to see some instructions that are specifically for ubuntu (and therefore should work with mint).
Note that Mythtv can be a bit challenging to set-up. I suggest you start out with these instructions and then look for further assistance in the Mythbuntu forum.
