hey there,
i am looking for a program that will allow me to cut and splice an audio file into many smaller pieces. i am preferrably looking for the easiest to use solution, nothing too over complicated.

I use Audacity for my audio editing needs. I think it's simple yet powerful.
Another vote for Audacity. It's a pretty straightforward app. :)

thanks, will give it a try on the weekend and report back on monday :)
In any audacity-favoured thread I always like to mention my preference of Rezound. It's just better IMO, but others like audacity.
