I just installed Kubuntu 8.10 on my primary computer (because I prefer KDE to Gnome) and Ubuntu 8.10 on a backup computer.

Several times over the past couple of weeks, I have had questions about setting up or installing various programs (e.g., tork and kpilot). Every time I searched, the answer I needed was somewhere in these forums supplied by other users.

So I just registered here to record my thanks to all of you who have supplied both questions and answers. I won't limit my activity here to this "thanks" necessarily, but wanted to do at least that.

*Extraneous information*

Everything is running pretty well and I love Kubuntu/Ubuntu so far in its depth, but still with a setup that makes it relatively easy for someone new to Linux to embrace.

I ran Linux as a primary system several years ago (under the old Linux Mandrake distro), but then when I began to travel as part of my job and essentially live on the road, I migrated to only laptops, and I never could find a Linux distro which would allow me to connect to the net wirelessly or using my Verizon Wireless USB card, so I have been using Windows XP/Vista for a while. However, in Ubuntu, those issues have been resolved, and I'm happy to be using Linux primarily once more. There is much to learn and re-learn, and I'm sure these forums will be a primary resource for both of those things.

Thanks again to you all.

Welcome to the forum. Glad it is working out for you. Ubuntu is a nice OS, Im still using Edgy with Beryl 2.0. I think you find that Ubuntu will not degrade over time. Good luck.

Yeah I don't think it does, either. Degrade, that is.

I'm not much for the eye candy, though. :P
