After many negative posts, its time to say THANK YOU Ubuntu!!!

Two days ago I installed the latest Beta of Nvidia 180.11.02 drivers and for the first time in two years of using Linux I have a FAST desktop!

I have tried literally every distro, all the way down to Puppy and DSL trying to get better performance. But all the while it was the video card support for my 8600GT which was the issue.

Another time I thought Ubuntu was prone to crashing. After a month of cursing Ubuntu, turned out to be a bad motherboard.

So the two major issues I've had with Ubuntu were not Ubuntu's fault.

The good thing is that with all my distro hopping I can safely say Ubuntu is the finest one out there. "It just works!".

Glad to have you. It's nice to see people stick with it and get to the root of the issue, rather than just blaming Linux and washing their hands of the whole thing.

Perseverance and patience...and now you have a fine OS. :)
