Man, Chakra looks pretty intense, even though I still have yet to be able to get a KDE install working to my liking. Can't wait to try out the LiveCD when it's available.

I've never really liked KDE. It's somewhat trivial, but every application starting with "K" annoys me.

I have been tempted to try KDEmod though, just to say I tried it. Heck, I may end up liking it. Maybe when they release the Live CD I'll give it a try.

Looking more and more impressive. Exciting stuff!

In all honesty if something like that annoys you it must stem from some sort of biase. I somehow doubt you would like KDEmod but hey give it a spin regardless.

Use what you like and be happy. I don't think it is possible to 'try and like' something when you already don't like it.

& it seems that they are starting to drop the K also.

The installation includes a plain and simple Arch Linux installation + our modular KDE packages, and no other external stuff. Not even grub-gfx or the boot splash will be installed - it is 100% compatible to Arch Linux and we do not intend to change that. We just dont want to hack around for things like a boot splash screen. This stuff should be implemented upstream, where it belongs, and not by us...

I absolutely love their approach to the LiveCD

I'm downloading it now.

I'll have something to play around with tomorrow when I wake up. :P

I've always preferred gnome as DE and I probably always will, but Chakra makes me want to try it out.

I would like to report that the LiveCD worked flawlessly for me and it also installed to my harddrive successfully.

I installed it on my test-box with the following specs:

Pentium 4 2.26 GHz processor 1 GB RAM 60 GB HD ATI Radeon 9000 graphics Card RaLink RT2561 Wireless Lan Card

I'm very surprised at how well the entire process worked. Tribe, the installer, worked very well.

This seems pretty cool, I hope the project succeeds.
