System -> Admin -> Terminal

uname -a

I'm pretty sure it comes with a modified version of Xandros.

Yes, it is a slightly modified Xandros. I have since wiped it and installed Arch linux.

i have the 701 2G surf and wiped xandros and did a command line install with intrepid, then put xfce on it. runs great.
