is it recommended to use an antivirus program with UBUNTU ???

No. I've never used one.

#3

You dont need one

I don't even recommend it with Windows, but there are currently no viruses "in the wild" for Linux and not likely to be any in the near future.

If you're still not sure, go to my blog, click on Perminent Articles, and look at the two about viruses and Linux.

I don't think firestarter is a firewall. You use firestarter to configure your firewall--iptables.

AVG makes a free linux anti-virus version, go to their website to get it

According to synaptic firestarter is:-

gtk program for managing and observing your firewall Firestarter is a complete firewall tool for Linux machines. It features an easy to use firewall wizard to quickly create a firewall.
