I hate gnome!

Not! Of course, I'm likely not posting this in the right forum, because I'm not to sure where to post it anyways, but no, Hate is just the opposite of how I feel about GNOME.

I did post a testimony about Ubuntu and how I loved GNOME, but I think I want to have the full GNOME story here, Ubuntu aside.

May 2008 about was when a friend told me KDE was the perfect way for me to start my linux journey. I tried KDE, and I felt it was too slow, bloated, and it just wasn't there..

I later tried GNOME on pendrivelinux2008 . I instantly feel inlove with the VM, and wanted badly to install it on my computer, I ended up finding Ubuntu, since Kubuntu is how I was told to try KDE, KDE3 at the time.

Wubi was the only option I had at that time, but it failed, and I did it later. GNOME was so perfect to me (and it still is). When I hear "XFCE IS JUST PERFECT!!!!!" It's stupid. I can see something being perfect to you, but nothing is perfect. If anyone says "GNOME is so perfect" yes, I agree, but it will still anger me. Anywho, I stuck with that, tons of stupid mistakes helped my grow my knowloage with Linux and GNOME, and recently GNOME got my offical seal of awesomeness.

Yesterday, 30GB of my data was on this computer. Windows screwed up after I shut it down "wrong" during a CHKDSK (CheckDisk) sequence that was NOT in read-only mode. Ubuntu wouldn't boot beacuse Windows flagged the disk dirty. I put in my Ubuntu 8.10 LIVE disk, fail, don't work. Ubuntu 8.04 disk, scratched as can be worked OK. GNOME stayed stable the whole time, and luckly my External HD was deteced find by Ubuntu. Not saying KDE, or XFCE couldn't of done the same thing, just when I needed GNOME it was there and worked fine(and of course Ubuntu which had all t3h drivers and stuff). I formatted my HD, and Everything was installed back on OK.

I've tried Ubuntu in many different.. eh.. Flavors? Through distros, and I always love it.

My three favorite distros with GNOME are in order from most favorite down: Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSolairs.

GNOME! The almighty linux foot :D?

LOL... it never ceases to amaze (or scare?) me just how much emotion some people put into pieces of software.

I like GNOME as well, but would have no real problem with KDE or even XFCE. It's a matter of visual preference, nothing else. Yeah, I'm shallow, so what?

Agreed that Live CDs are a godsend!

Gnome's okay. I like Fluxbox a LOT better though.

I like LXDE, myself (when the panel's not bugging out).

Meh, gnome is nice. But KDE > Gnome ;)

I ran KDE for the longest time. However, I'm not a fan of 4.x so I switched to gnome. BTW, I also switched distros on the last install so I'm now running ubuntu 8.10

i like to use gnome when i'm on vacation and have plenty of free time.

GNOME FTW.:D Especially 2.24.1. I love the tabbed browsing in Nautilus. KDE I just didn't like, too bloaty and I found it over complicated. XCFE I have only used once on Linpus Lite, so I have no real opinion about it.

I am on the verge of loving lxde....

I like the file manager anyhow. A little more improvements here and there and it will be great.

I tried KDE. It is definitely not for me. I probably need to click a few extra steps to do what I do in gnome with a click. browsing is easier with nautilus and I pretty much have it the way I want it.

I like Gnome, but on slower machines it the wrong choice.

Openbox on Crunch Bang Linux is the current Favorite for me.
