Is there any way to be able to apply and quickly edit layer styles in GIMP, comparable to editing layer styles in Photoshop? (i.e. bevel/emboss, outer/inner glow, satin, etc.) A search I did only revealed a python script which did not work for me. This is one of the few reasons for keeping Photoshop running under wine.

I would like to know the answer to this as well. ^

I don't think so, unless maybe there's an extension to do so?

#4

I remember seeing an extention for this, but I can't find it now.

The only thing I've seen that comes close is the layer effects script.

I think the script is included in Fxfoundry. (Fx foundry is a script pack containing lots of useful stuff).

After you install and learn to use all these scripts, go tell on another branch that GIMP is as good as Photoshop.

Thanks. I don't know why, but I found that script, but only the python version which did not work for me. I have installed the Script-Fu version and it's working great. Thank you! haha, one less reason to keep photoshop around.

look for GEGL. If I remember correctly, this is going to be much more powerful than the layers in photoshop as having effects on layers is kind of handicapped.
