Can you build your own custom DSL ?

I have made a new account at the DSL forums & activated it, but it won't let me login at this stage, so I'll ask the question here:

Is it possible to build your own DSL?

Can you remove files from the 50Mb DSL & add your own applications in place, & burn it to use as the LiveCD it was intended?

I have no need for 3 web browsers & 5 text editors, I would like to trim down the applications dramatically & of course add a few of my own, not many though.

If you can do that, I think I'd like to play around with DSL, I like the way it works, its smart Knoppix hardware detection leaves Puppy for dead in the ease of use stakes.

I really like DSL's potential.

Yes, you can. Check out Feather Linux, it was built on top of DSL. Don't ask me how, but you might ask over at Feather Linux to see.

I just had a look at the Feather site, they did what DSL did & stripped Knoppix down & built on top of it.

I've just had a bit of a look at the Larch page, I tend to think I will have a play around with that & see if I can manage to make an Arch based LiveCD.

I also like the idea of being able to make a LiveDisk backup of my installed system.

I'll start a thread in the Arch section here & see if anyone has had any experience with Larch.

I have a bunch of DSL machines, and if I recall correctly you can do this.
