freebsd problem configuring everything in gnome

hi guys, i recently installed freebsd cuz i want to learn about it, the issue is this, whenever i try to edit everything, example, edi the network, i get this dialog box "the configuration could not be loaded" you are not allowed to access the system configuration, the weird thing here is that im having this problem logged in as root, any help will be greatly appreciated!! thanks!
