Just installed Ubuntu for the first time. Tried Mandriva 2006 before that but, unlike Ubuntu, it didn't autodetect and config my cable modem and Belkin router. :)

So, given that Ubuntu does that so well, I'm surprised that it doesn't seem to have detected my graphics card properly. I have a GeForce FX5200, so it's nothing unusual. However, I find that I'm stuck in 640 x 480 @ 60Hz which is a pain to work in. I can't change the settings as they're the only options in the drop down boxes.

Or could it be the monitor that hasn't been detected? It's a 17" Videoseven unit. Mandriva did detect these properly.

Any ideas?
