I just purchased a Logitech QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac and am running Ubuntu on my Mac G5 (PPC). The QuickCam is supposed to be in practice cross-platform according to http://www.aselabs.com/articles.php?id=268 Unfortunately, Ekiga doesn't seem to recognize the webcam when I get to step 8 in the first time configuration wizard. Is that because this is a UVC device?

Cheers,

Brian

just something I ran across... make sure that it is plugged directly into a USB port on the machine and not into a hub.

Thanks. Yes it is. The QuickCam comes with an almost 1.8 meter long cable, so there isn't any excuse for not plugging the webcam directly into a USB port :-)

Not sure then, that seemed to be the only problem with the camera that I could find. Ubuntu reports the camera as working. I might check in the multimedia forum for an answer as I don't think that your PPC architecture will make much of a difference in this instance.
