Why am I #1?

When I look at the bottom of the UbuntuForums.org webpage, I see:

Why do I appear first?? (it's a little annoying...)

I also appear first on my list. I think it is part of the forum software to list your self first.

MODS: Move to FFH :)

Your own username appears first, then the rest are alphabetical.

Why is that annoying?

Everybody is #1

Just like http://ubuntuforums.org/profile.php?do=editprofile edits your profile... and mine, and everyones profile. It is generic for everyone that way. Your cookie places you at #1 If you no longer want to be #1, log out and check it again.

So, you're saying that I'm #1 just as I login as falkTX, so if i logged as 'XXX' the 'XXX' would be the first in the list?

When I looked at the http://ubuntuforums.org home page, I seen I was #1 and not you. So I would say that it is cookie based.

To test that theory, log out and check the home page to see if you are still #1.

The activity list is based upon last click and last activity, so anytime you hit the banner or refresh the main page, you are first.

Well, no. Except for the first name, you'll see that it's just an alphabetized list of users currently logged in.

I think he was referring to if your name appears on that list. It is based on your activity (ie with in the last X mins)

Eventually you are logged out if you session isn't making any requests to the server, yes. But, again, that has nothing to do with the placement of names on the list, which is straightforward: ${MY NAME} is first, followed by everyone else's in alphabetical order.
