Since this is the fist machine I have owned with Linux could someone direct me to a good anti-virus? I've used Norton, McAfee, and Microsoft All-In-One. But I did not know if Norton or McAfee works on Linux?

Be of good cheer! If you'll stick with Linux, you won't need an anti-virus. at least for the foreseeable future.

Maybe someday that will change, but for now, creating virii for Linux is too much work.

There is an anti-virus program in the repositories called ClamAV. However, Imhavoc is right. There's really no need for it at the moment.

What Tom said. Bear in mind, though, that I think ClamAV actually scans your system for Windows viruses. Which, if you're not running a mail server, isn't necessary.
