Fluxbox.
xfce - simple, easy to use and configure and fast. xfwm4 includes its own compositing manager.
I use KDE, GNOME and XFCE.
Awesome 3 or Openbox.
gnome just like it better
xfce, its better on my aging laptop, other than that i havent decided on gnome or kde,
One of the most argued questions.
I use:
Gnome as my primary desktop environment.
XFCE on my slightly older laptop,,, y'know, speed...
Fluxbox is on my main computer as well as Gnome, and I use it as my gaming DE, or when I"m cranky and want NO LAG WHATSOEVER...
I've used KDE 4.1 on multiple occasions, but I have major speed issues, so I'ma wait till 4.2 to give it another shot...
If you're a linux noob, I'd stick with GNOME of xfce until you're a bit more sure of yourself, the others are harder to use, imho.
KDE 4.2 beta 1 mostly because my favourite apps are KDE
Both! I'm dual booting Ubuntu and Mandriva. :biggrin:
I have Ubuntu with Gnome as my main OS, with Mandriva 2009 and KDE4.1.3 as my secondary. I really like the direction KDE4 is going in, but I'm not sure it's ready for everyone yet. Still, I can't wait to see it when it is. It's going to be fantastic. I think the general stability of Gnome though will always be my favourite overall, and that's why I prefer it as my main environment.

Enlightenment DR17 (E17), buecause its nice, light, eye candy. ;)
Openbox, Fvwm and occasionally Xfce.
Gnome is the one for me,I tried KDE once and didn't like it at all.
KDE mostly, Xfce on some slower systems, currently GNOME (Mint Felicia) on one.
I have been using KDE since it was a beta back in 96 and you had to compile it yourself. Of course there was no gnome back then I don't remember seeing Gnome until 98.
KDE is just as fast as Gnome, has better applications mostly not all and is not so limited as Gnome.
Believe me I have tried hard to get used to Gnome as it would make my life easier with Ubuntu but I just can't get used to Nautilus and the ways things are limited and are easy to do with KDE but a pain to do with Gnome.
I like Gnome. It does what I want, I can find everything, and is much cleaner.
