I recently received three infractions from the same thread and I believe they should be expunged and the people who issued the infractions removed from their position of authority. I want this action taken by those responsible for appointing people to the Ubuntu staff. The details of my defense are in posts made to P_Quarles. Here I want to make a more general statement.
P_Quarles said to me that it didn't matter if you were right if it disturbed appearances. Such an attitude for an individual, or even a collection of individuals is the foundation of evil. When one starts valuing a facade rather than honesty and truth then surely that will bring the eventual demise of that group.
Basically I told a novice that with a 3rd grade background one can't do calculus. The words actually used were "way beyond you" applied to the context of a difficult computer task, not really a grade comparison. I recommended uninstalling the application because I knew trying to fix it was months or years beyond his skill level. And in fact uninstalling did undo his destructive efforts to the configuration of the program. I was given a warning for insulting a member which is a blatant lie. I provided a useful troubleshooting step and the reason for taking it.
I think the reason for this is because if the moderator would have said it, then they would have meant it as an insult.
I continued to respond in an objective manner, which, it is true did make the other poster look ignorant, and that's because he is. I provided factual reasons for the basis of what I had said and received in turn nasty argumentative, derisive replies. When I decided not to reply to such a post, but instead informed the moderator that I had been insulted, I was given another infraction for perpetuating a feud. "in light of your previous infraction" he said. I should not have received any infraction in the first place to shed any poor light on my history. I told you the other poster to quit being abusive and grow up and it was I who got an infraction for not treating another member as an equal. Implying that we are all adults and have equal skill levels, which is a blatant lie. That is not true of the Ubuntu staff either, all equal.
I don't think I should be put in a position where I have to strain to be honorable because I'm judged by people with corrupt ethical values. 'If you don't like it you can quite'. I don't like it and *you* can quit.

All that cheap talk about the meaning of Ubuntu, while the action of some members of Ubuntu staff tarnish that ideal. It seems to me that any spiritual path which does not prize truth is doomed to perish, when the glitter of commercial appeasement wears off.
