I noticed today that I couldn't play supertux. Everytime I tried to start it I got

nick@nick10:~$ supertux
Datadir: /usr/share/games/supertux
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".

Error: I could not set up video for 640x480 mode.
The Simple DirectMedia error that occured was:
Couldn't find matching GLX visual

After reading about the problem, I found that most often the cause of this is when someone doesn't have the nvidia drivers installed or forgot to comment out dri and glcore in the xorg.conf. I do have the nvidia drivers installed and can play WoW in cedega. I double checked and I also commented our dri and glcore. Anybody know what I am missing?

My kernel is 2.6.12-10-amd64-k8, I have a nvidia GeForce 440 Go 64M in my laptop. I used the nvidia installer to get the v.7667 version of the driver. My xorg.conf is:

# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)

# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg

# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

I am also having this problem, I'm trying to play America's amry, I have installed the nvidia drivers and have both of those commented out as well. I have searched but I have not been able to find an answer yet.

Me too but with Neverwinter Nights (doesn't seem to matter what app as long as its 3D...)

I've been having this problem too. I know I have a nVidid GeForce 2 Go, don't know the spcifics on it. It's not a huge problem cuz I don't do alot of gaming but I do miss Tux Racer :| and I can't play Uplink :(
