Please assist.

MB: Asus P5AD2, DELUXE MB, OS Win Xp.

2 HDS Raid [SYLICON IMAGE],.

Last time I turned off computer was working well. After 10 days, turned on PC, downloaded email, zone Alarm gave no warning of virus, neither AVG. After 2 minutes, computer went into a loop, restarting every 2 minutes.

I am unable to go into Bios, [used del key]. Tried F5, F8, F9, F10. Tried shutting down incorrectly.

Tried the installation CD.

Latest final attempt: I removed the battery and resetted the jumper.

While before resetting the clock , each time it started, there was on beep, and got as far as WinXP desktop before getting into the loop.

Now I get one beep, after a few seconds of crunching there are two quick beeps, and then NOTHING.

the monitor stays black.

Please assist.thanks Apologies for the lengthy account. DOLFINO:(

If your now getting more than normal "Beeps" that usually means some kind of Hardware Failure...

Check this link and see if any pertain to your problem...

**If my computer beeps and fails to boot, what do the beeps mean?**

Unplug all the devices from your computer and mother board(ram, hdd,cd etc...).After open your computer,it will beep it doesnt matter.Close it and plug one by one the things again (one memory at a time )and each thing that you will be pluging open the computer (power it)and close it again.Dont forget to put the battery again and fix the date to bios !

Have you tried booting an Ubuntu Live CD? What happens when you do?

I had a similar problem but not quite the same. It would boot for a while and then just shut down. We're talking like a 90 second run time, no rebooting. I finally figured out that the CPU chip wasn't seated properly and the heatsink wasn't heatsinking enough.

Remember to ground yourself onto the power supply before touching anything inside your box. An ESD bracelet is even better. Fried one mobo due to carelessness.
