I need to make fake newspaper for education purpose, such as new york times or others. Is there an easy software that will let me layout and print such newspaper? I need to place headlines, picture, and article.

You want a DTP package.

Scribus is very popular.

Other options - if just for a single page: Inkscape OpenOffice Draw

Thanks, but these are design tools from scratch. I was looking for something ready made, with newspaper look that I can just change few items and print out.

Thanks - but I have been there already. This gives very limited editing capability. The best I googled so far was: http://www.jptestmorecambe.co.uk/test/

but I was hoping there is something even better.

Then that would be DTP, like Scribus.

Honestly how picky are you that you want something with more editing capability than what you posted, but not completely capable like Scribus?

http://www.presentationhelper.co.uk/newspaper-templates-for-powerpoint-409.htm

that will open in open-office. you can work on it through there.

but you can't just expect an easy way out of a project. You're supposed to give it your blood sweat and tears. well, not really. there you go.

As mentioned above Scribus will create newsletters for you.

I found the following information helpful when I started working with Scribus. It is a 3 part article about Newsletters. It might be more information than you want, but it has all the basics about setting up your pages, columns, photos, etc.

In addition, I googled linux newspaper template and located this site which has some newsletter/newspaper templates you might be able to work from. You could probably find other templates if you looked a little more than I did. http://www.scribusstuff.org
