as i remember there is no live cd for the ppc platform?

Do you think there be one in the future? Just a lot of mac users love and religiously protect there os x with a passion and to think of installing Linux out on their precious box is unthinkable so how about a live cd version of Ubuntu that would show them that Linux is not as bad afterall?

Is there any other distrubution that does a ppc live cd? if not there should be one!

and yes i use a 100% Ubuntu Linux PPC box.

I believe I read somewhere that the Ubuntu livecd is being redesigned and that a PPC edition is on the cards when this redesign has been completed.

that be great cos' i can then get some of my mac friends to try a real os i mean to see what Linux is like Hi, I'm new to the Mac (got a iBook 500 MHz and a OS 9.1 CD, no osx, no Linux) I downloaded Ubuntu, (YDL 4.0 was a nightmare) and I'm using it, but I wanted to know. When you say that you want your friends to try a "real OS" what do you mean?

P.D: If I'm right OSX is based on UNIX.

OS X is based on unix and is similar yet in other places very different. I think they're based on two different brands of UNIX. ALSO APPLE play about with the underneath of OS X and change things in many places and restrict it against the user. So if you want an OS to config and have 100% control, Linux is the way. Linux is about freedom and choice. OS X is very restricted. Basically there is a heated debate over the whole matter which we not gonna get into. Dont get wrong i think OS X is a great OS i have used it for ages and loved every second of it. I just IMHO prefer Linux for the freedom and the freedom to create and the free software... i personally find it superior after OS X is still closed source in many areas and still made by a company who want money. While the whole point about GNU/Linux is about freedom. Free as in freedom.
