Just ran across this product Ultamatix: http://ultamatix.com/
I used to use Automatix way back when I started but then discovered I could do everything manually the program did itself without package breakage. Is this product just a rehash of the old Automatix with the same old problems?
Personally, I don't see the point.
Look at the list of "What it has". At least 99.9% of those are already installed or you can grab from one of the default repositories (so long as you include multiverse.)
Of the remaining .1%, I'd guess half are available from playdeb or getdeb.
That pretty much leaves Enemy Territory and America's Army.
Maybe someone can come along and explain the point?
It used to be a pain to install the codecs - it mostly was done through the terminal. Now it is so easy to install them without using the terminal.

Don't know if it has the same "problems" but it is a rehash and as stated on the Ultimatix website in bold print...
This is intended to run on Ultimate Edition 1.8 / UBUNTU 8.04 / Debian (untested).
Personally I don't see use for it anymore but if you run one of the editions it has been aimed at, then it is one more choice I guess.
In my opinion its just an obsolete piece of technology.
Mathew Garrett pointed out the weakness of Ultimatix. (Earlier he had done so for Automatix).
There is also a long thread about this, from a little while ago, probably in the Recurring Discussions forum.
